The final and protracted session of Hadassah, Saturday evening, was marked by a spirit of friendship among the members a desire to continue their work and increased responsibility with unity and deotion and to forget all controversies which are now prevalent in Zionist ranks.
Mrs. Dorothy E. Lefkowitz, nominated and re-elected for the office of treasurer, resigned immediately after election, it being understood that the election was intended as an expression of confidence by the Hadassah in Mrs. Lefkowitz, who figured prominently in the charges brought against Louis Lipsky. Mrs. David Greenberg of Mount Vernon was unanimously elected instead. The other officers elected were: Miss Henrietta Szold honorary president; Mrs. Irma Lindheim, president; Mrs. Zip F. Szold, first vice-president: Miss Pearl Franklin, second vice-president; Mrs. David de Sola Pool, third vice-president.
The new National Board, the governing board of Hadassah, is composed of: Mrs. H. Dannenbaum, Houston, Texas; Mrs. A. H. Fromenson, New York; Miss Rachel Natelson, Brooklyn, N.Y.; Mrs. Lewis Goldberg. Boston, Mass; Miss Emily Solis-Cohen, New York; Mrs Samuel J. Rosenson, New York; Miss Juliet Benjamin, Brooklyn, N. Y.; Mrs. Harry Berkrnan, Chicago; Mrs. Max Margolis, Philadelphia; Mrs. Rose L. Halpern. Brooklyn. N.Y.; Mrs. Judith Epstein, New York; Mrs. David Greenberg, Mount Vernon, N. Y.
Before the close of the session, Mrs. Archibald Silverman, member of the Administrative Committee of the Zionist Organization of America rendered the following report on the relation of Hadassah to the American Jewish Physicians Committee on the Hebrew University Hospital Fund for Palestine, of which she is vice-chairman and Dr. Nathan Ratnoff, chairman.
Hadassah gave $37.500 to the Committee for a hospital building in Tel Aviv, first as loan and later converted into a gift, $25,000 for a hospital in the Emek, which is now in process of construction. $50,000 for the purchase of land for a University hospital, for which the sum of $100,000 additional is to be raised in the near future. The amount of $7,500 is now being raised for the Norvin R. Lindheim Memorial Clinic at Tiberias.
Over three hundred voices joined in singing Hatikvah as the convention came to a close at three o’clock Sunday morning.
