The income for Palestine funds in the three years of the existence of the United Palestine Appeal has been increased by over $3,000,000 in comparison with a similar period prior to the organization of the United Palestine Appeal. according to an announcement by Morris Rothenberg, chairman of the Board of Directors of the United Palestine Appeal. The United Palestine Appeal includes the Keren Hayesod. Hadassah Medical Organization, Junior Hadassah. Jewish National Fund. Hebrew University and Mizrachi Institutions.
“In the period beginning October 1. 1925. and ending July 31, 1928.” Mr. Rothenberg said. “the United Palestine Appeal has collected for all its constituent organizations the sum of $9.911.077.59. whereas in a similar period. ending July 31. 1925. which was prior to the organization of the United Palestine Appeal. the total collections of the various organizations amounted to $6,750.334.57. thus showing an increase in favor of the United Palestine Appeal of $3,160.743.02.”
Hadassah was the largest beneficiary. It received for the medical work in Palestine a $1,000,000 more in the last three years than in the corresponding period when it conducted an independent campaign. In the period from 1922 to 1925. Hadassah remitted to Palestine $408,879.20. while during the three years from 1925 to 1928. when the United Palestine Appeal was the central fund-collecting agency for Palestine, the Hadassah medical organization in Palestine received $1,487.155.64.
Junior Hadassah also gained in receipts during the United Palestine Appeal period over $115 000. The National Fund gained about $400,000 while the increase of Keren Hayesod remittances amounted only to $125,000.
A total of $7.264.787.64 was remitted to Palestine during the three years existence of the Palestine Appeal, as against $4.833.738.43 which was the total remitted from 1922 to 1925. before the United Palestine Appeal came into being. This represents an increase in funds sent to Palestine during the United Palestine Appeal period of $2.431.049.21. Mr. Rothenberg pointed out.
