With many of Pittsburgh’s philanthropic, civic, and social leaders present, the cornerstone of the new $625,000 addition to the Irene Kaufmann Settlement was laid. Louis J. Afferlder, president of the association, was master of ceremonies. Dr. Samuel H. Goldenson, of Rodef Shalom Temple, Irvin F. Lehman, president of the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of this city, and Sidney A. Teller, resident director of the settlement, also spoke.

The addition, which will contain an auditorium, equipped as a little theater, seating 625 persons, is the gift Henry Kaufmann, philanthropist of New York and Pittsburgh, in memory of triss wife, There a Kaufmanns. The new project will also have a gymnasium, swimming pool, locker rooms, public baths, shower baths and executive quarters.
