A statement disavowing any connection of the authorities of the University of Debreczin with the student agitation for the numerus clausus was issued by Bishop Desider Balthazar, head of the Hungarian Calvinists and Chancellor of the University.

The Chancellor states that he is most anxious to explain to public opinion in America and the rest of the civilized world that the university authorities had nothing in common with the reactionary student movement or the numerus clausus.
