Draining Pinsk Swamp Area Impractical Scientist Tells Government Commission

The amelioration of the Pinsk swampy region, considered in some Jewish circles in Poland as a way to create an opportunity for Jewish land settlement work, was declared impracticable by Prof. Limanowski, a geologist, to a session of the Government Commission on Natural Resources.

Prof. Limanowski stated that not only is the amelioration plan impracticable, but it is even dangerous as the drainage of the swamps would transform the neighboring regions into a wilderness. Other scientists concurred with Prof Limanowski’s opinion.
