The dismissal of Landesgerichtsrat Hoffinan and the punishment of Landesgerichtsrat Koelling, the two German court officials charged with instigating the German Dreyfus case that of the Jewish merchant of Magdeburg. Rudolf Haas, were demanded before the disciplinary senate by the state prosecutor Rhode.

The prosecutor, in his plea, revealed that even after Schroeder confessed to the killing of Rudolf Haas’s bookkeeper, Helling, and Haas’s release from prison following his acquit(###) of guilt. Hoffman wanted to issue an order to again arrest the Jewish merchant on a concocted charge of perjury. He was prevented from doing so by a decision of the judge who tried the case. The state prosecutor paid tribute to the action of Dr. Weiss, the vice-president of the Berlin police, who brought about a solution of the murder mystery by derailing the outstanding German criminal expert. Busdorf-Nieman, to the case. It was against Weiss that Hoffman and Knelling formulated the charge of favoritism toward the Jewish merchant.
