The largest welfare bequest of the late Felix Fuld, vice-president of L. Bamberger & Company, who died January 20, is one of $100,000 to be shared jointly by the Y. M. H. A. and the Y. W. H. A. of Newark, it became known yesterday when the will was filed for probate. A total of $645,000 was left to various welfare institutions. Bequests to friends and relatives total $342,000 while the residuary estate goes to the widow, Mrs. Carrie Bamberger Fuld and to Louis Bamberger, brother-in-law of the legatee, in equal shares.
Besides the bequest to the Newark “Y,” bequests of $50,000 each are to go to the Babies Hospital, Newark Museum Association, Florence Crittenden Home, Hospital and Home for Crippled Children, St. Barnabas Hospital, Newark Eye and Ear Infirmary and the Y. M. C. A. of Newark. Gifts of $25,000 each will go to the East Side Day Nursery and the Eighteenth Avenue Day Nursery, the Hebrew Maternity Aid Association, Jewish Sisterhood, Society for the Relief of Respectable Aged Women, the Y. W. C. A., all of Newark, and the Theresa Grotta Aid for Convalescents at North Caldwell.
Mr. Fuld also left $5,000 each to the Beth Israel Hospital, the Bureau of Associated Charities, the Hebrew Benefit and Orphans Society and the Jewish Sisterhood and Day Nursery.
Rabbi Abha Hillel Silver of Cleveland. O., who will attend the Convention of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations in San Francisco, February 10th to the 15th, will speak before several Jewish communities in the West on his way to the coast.
