The catastrophic conditions in the famine stricken district of Bessarabia have seriously affected the Jewish schools, it was pointed out at an extraordinary conference of school directors held here.

Fifty Jewish schools, with a legistration of 6,000 pupils, are in danger of being closed. Teachers are suffering because of lack of funds to pay their salaries.

An appeal to Roumanian and Bessarabian Jews in America was despatched, pleading “Save our schools.”
