Prof Einstein Gets Ovation at Keren Hayesod-convention in Berlin

Prof. Albert Einstein was accorded a long and enthusiastic ovation when he appeared at the opening session of the Keren Hayesod convention here last night. The session was held in the Kroll Salle and was presided over by Oscar Wassermann.

Dr. Einstein who is a member of the Keren Hayesod in Germany was seated at the table with the members of the praesidium. Herr Wassermann, in the name of the Keren Hayesod, delivered an address of congratulations to the famous scientist on the occasion of his fiftieth birthday, which he will celebrate on Thursday.

The question of the extended Jewish Agency was the central point discussed at the session. Herr Wassermann. who was a member of the Non-Partisan Palestine Survey Commission, presented the details of the New York Non-Partisan Conference for Palestine held in October quoting the facts presented by Louis Marshall. Felix M. Warburg and Lord Melchett.

Following the report a resolution presented by Herr Wassermann was unanimously adopted greeting the extended Jewish Agency. The resolution read:

“1. The national convention of the Keren Hayesod in Germany greets the extension of the Jewish Agency.

“2. The convention greets the decision of the American Non-Zionist Conference held in October, which resulted in American Jewry, under the leadership of Louis Marshall and Felix M. Warburg entering the Jewish Agency. The conference also agrees with the pact concluded between the Zionist Organization and the American non-Zion- (Continued on Page 4)

“3. The convention authorizes the praesidium of the central committee to take steps toward the bringing of German non-Zionisis into the Jewish Agency.

A report that 870,000 marks were collected during 1928 in Germany for the Keren Hayesod was submitted to the conference. The report also stated that since 1921, 5,000,000 marks were contributed. Felix Rosenblueth, Martin Buber, Nahum Goldman and other leading Zionists addressed the convention.
