A request for a grant of government land adjacent to the colony Nathania, named for Nathan Straus, American Jewish philantropist, was submitted to Sir John Chancellor, Palestine High Commissioner and H. C. Luke, Civil Secretary.
A delegation of the B’nai Benjamin, organization of sons of Palestine pioneers, called on the High Commissioner and the Civil Secretary today. In the memorandum the delegation submitted exemption of taxes for the next five years was asked for the colony.
Sir John Chancellor, replying to the delegation, stated that he would sympathetically consider part of their demands. Sir John said that he is convinced the young farmers’ system of colonization, which is based on private property and initiative, is the only practical method for upbuilding the national home.
