The dean of the Warsaw Polytechnical Institute upheld the action of Polish students who tore down posters of the Jewish Academic Society printed in Polish and Yiddish. This was brought out at the Conference of the Jewish Academic Society in session here.
In making public the figures on the health of the Jewish students in the country’s institutes of learning, the difficulties encountered in obtaining this information in the Polytechnical Institute of Warsaw were recounted.
“We shall not permit Jewish announcements,” Polish students of the Polytechnical Institute declared, tearing down the posters of the Society. The Society’s announcements, printed in Polish and Yiddish, were intended to inform Jewish students of the health survey being conducted in the higher schools in the country.
Jewish students of the Institute lodged a complaint with the secretary, asking him to intervene. The secretary, however, advised that the Yiddish text be eliminated from the posters, as a measure for avoiding the antagonism of the Polish students. When the appeal was carried to the dean, he declared that the Christian students had acted properly.
