A banquet at which Supreme Court Justice Joseph M. Proskauer and Rabbi Nathan Krass will be the principal speakers, will be held under the joint auspices of the B’nai Brith Wider Scope Committee of Newark, N.J., and the Menorah Association, on Sunday night in the Newark Y.M.H.A. auditorium.
The dinner will mark the opening of a drive for $60,000 in behalf of the Wider Scope Committee and the Menorah Association. Louis Bamberger is honorary chairman of the drive which will be in the nature of a memorial to the late Felix Fuld. Justice Proskauer, who was an intimate friend of Mr. Fuld, will devote his address to a eulogy of the latter’s life. Supreme Court Commissioner Joseph Kraemer, chairman of the drive, will act as toastmaster.
At the first workers’ luncheon, next Tuesday, Dr. Boris D. Bogen, secretary of the Independent Order B’nai Brith, will be the principal speaker.
Maurice Bloch, Democratic Assembly leader in the New York Assembly, and president of the Independent Order B’nai Brith, District No. 1, was the guest of honor at a testimonial dinner given by residents and businessmen of the Yorkville section. New York City, at the Hotel Commodore, New York.
Senator Robert F. Wagner was toastmaster and Mayor Walker was one of the speakers. Governor Roosevelt spoke from the Executive Mansion in Albany over the telephone to the guests at the dinner.
Dr. Stephen S. Wise, John Sullivan, the Rev. Francis P. Duffy and Ephraim Byk, President of the Yorkville Chamber of Commerce, addressed the gathering.
A banquet was held by the Sons of Jacob Congregation. Torrington Conn, to mark the purchase of a site for a new synagogue.
Samuel M. Leavitt, president, and David Cramer were the speakers.
