Dr. Chaim Heller Sails to Reopen Jewish Academy

Dr. Chaim Heller, famous scholar and educator, is sailing today on the steamer “Olympic’ ‘following a short stay in the United States.

Dr. Heller is returning to Berlin to re-open his Beth Midrash Elyon. an academy for high Jewish study and research work, which he established at the close of the world war with the aid of funds from the United States. It is understood that Dr. Heller during his stay in America secured further means for the continuation of his academy and for the publication of some of his works along Bible research lines. The program also includes the publication of a new manuscript by Nachmonides (Ramban) on Maimonides’ Sepher Ha’mitzvoth.

Several of the post graduate students of Dr. Heller’s Berlin academy are now occupying important positions in the rabbinical and research work in various European countries. Dr. Heller was accompanied by his daughter, Miss Miriam Heller.

Justice Albert Cohn of the New York Supreme Court, will be one of the speakers at the fourth annual convention of the Deborah Jewish Consumptive Relief Society to be held at Broadway Central Hotel, New York, April 6th and 7th. Judge Cohn will be Honorary Chairman of the convention.

Congressman F. H. LaGuardia and Dr. Louis L. Harris, former Health Commissioner of New York City, will also address the convention, it was annouced by Mrs. Solomoo Shapiro president of the Deborah Society.

Plans for a new institution to house at least four times the number of patients now accommodated by the Deborah Sanarorium, will be discussed at the covention.
