Hungary Subsidizes Jewish Communal Needs

To the extent of 500,000 pengoes the government budget for 1929 includes several subsidies for Jewish communal and religious needs in the country.

One hundred and sixty-five thousand pengoes are allotted for both the Neolong and Orthodox communities; 66,000 pengoes for Jewish welfare organizations; 20,000 toward the erection of an Orthodox synagogues. Other allotments are mentioned including one to assist in the purchase of matzoth for the poor Jewish population.
