Nahum Sokolow, chairman of the Zionist Executive, who is now touring the United States in behalf of the United Palestine Appeal, was not informed of the date and place of the fourteenth annual convention of the Mizrachi, the Orthodox Zionist organization, which was held in Pittsburgh May 12, 13, 14.
This statement was made by Mr. Sokolow to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency in reference to the reported criticism voiced at the Mizrachi convention of Mr. Sokolow’s absence and the failure of the convention to receive a message of greetings from him.
Mr. Sokolow was not informed by the Mizrachi American administration concerning the date and place of the convention and because of his travels he did not know of its going into session, those close to him explained.
The twentieth annual sessions of the New York City Conference of Social Work will be held beginning May 21 and continuing for three days, according to Dudley D. Sicher, president of the Conference. The purpose of the sessions is to enable those engaged in social work to confer respecting methods, principles. administrations and results accomplished, and disseminating reliable information respecting charitable and correctional problems. Among the subjects before the sessions will be employment as a social problem; a symposium on the integration of psychiatry into the program of social agencies; social problem of Harlem and old age dependency.
