Rabbi Jacob Silbersterin, who was held and later released in connection with the changes against Maurice B. Baskin, said to be a United States citizen, of arranging fictitious marriages in order to circumvent the United States quota law, was rehabilitated when his secretary. Rosenberg, was arrested by the police.

Rosenberg confessed that he abused Rabbi Silberstein’s trust, using the rabbi’s stamp on the fictitious marriage certificates.

Despatches from Cherbourg published in the press here state that Baskin was arrested there before his attempt to embark for the United States. He was said to be accompanied by two women, declared to be among those involved in the fictitious marriages.
