Cape Town. S. Africa (Aug. 29)
Protest meetings throughout South Africa were held simultaneously today.
In Cape Town three meetings were held Wednesday to express grief, anxiety and indignation at the continued violation of the terms of the Palestine Mandate. Resolutions adopted declared that the right of the Jews to the Wailing Wall are inviolable and these rights must be secured. The resolution expressed the conviction of South African Jews that the unsympathetic attitude of the Palestine administration is responsible for the outbreaks and pledged themselves to continue the upbuilding of Eretz Israel. These resolution were telegraphed to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for transmission to the Colonial Office in London.
A deputation representing the Zionist Federation of South Africa and the Board of Jewish Deputies interviewed the Prime Minister at Pretoria, requesting him to make effective representations to the Colonial Office.
