The proposal that the United States government assume the Mandate for Palestine is being discussed on all sides in Washington, according to a report from Washington to the “London Morning Post.” The Washington correspondent asserts that the United States authorities do not regard the idea favorably, since it would be difficult to reconcile it with the United States non-membership in the League of Nations, which legally holds the Mandate.

The main reason for the discussions of this proposal is, says the correspondent, the blame for the present outbreaks on the British authorities who unduly favor the Moslem interests in Palestine. The rising tide of American criticism is explained by the fact that the Jewish Telegraphic Agency is the main source of information in the American press concerning the Palestine events, says the correspondent.
