A session of the Zionist General Council was held here Sunday morning under the chairmanship of Dr. Leo Motzkin.
Gedaliah Bublick, president of the American Mizrachi, who was an eyewitness to the outbreak in Palestine, reported on the situation. Mr. Bublick described the energetic efforts made to induce the Palestine administration to take effective measures to prevent the outbreak while there was still time, when reassurances were given by the government in Jerusalem and the local authorities in Hebron and other places.
It is the general conviction of the Jews in Palestine that the government was responsible for allowing the disorders and failing to take prompt measures to suppress them, Mr. Bublick declared. But for the disciplined action of the Jewish self-defense, the losses would have been far more serious, he said.
The report of Mr. Bublick, who had witnessed the disorders, made a deep impression.
