Propaganda of Arab agitators for an anti-Jewish boycott in Palestine is continuing. Characteristic of the agitation is the action of a group of Arabs who attended a meeting Sunday night to consider the situation. In order to live up to their boycott propaganda they ordered the caretaker to put out the electric lights supplied by the Ruttenberg Electric Workers. After the meeting the company was instructed to discontinue its supply.
The propaganda is the subject of comment in the Hebrew daily, “Ha’ Aretz,” in an editorial entitled, “Let There Be Darkness.” The paper reports that both Moslem and Christian youth societies and the Arab paper “Yarmuk” of Haifa are supporting the boycott propaganda.
Arabs working for Jewish planters in the Judea colonies, where they did not report during the two weeks of disturbance, demanded back pay for the period. Upon receipt of the money they returned to their villages. In urging all fellaheen to collect their money, the Arab villagers declared: “This Tuesday the Jewish colonies will be closed.”
The Arabs are also trying to collect funds for relief of the Moslem sufferers in the disturbances. It is revealed that 18 Arabs were killed in Haifa, including 1 Egyptian, several from Tul kerem, Acre and Ayre. All evidently came to Haifa to help in the anti-Jewish attacks.
