A memorandum of protest was submitted to August Henri Ponsot, French High Commissioner of Syria, who arrived here on his way to Beirut. The Syrian High Commissioner, accompanied by Mr. Keith-Roach, District Commissioner of Jerusalem, visited the Wailing Wall on Tuesday, Moroccan Arabs, who are French citizens, inhabiting the hovels adjoining the Wall pavement, presented a memorandum to the High Commissioner, protesting against alleged government repressions and “Jewish designs on the Mosque area.”

High Commissioner Ponsot visited the Mosque of Omar in order to be in a position to report to the Moslems of Syria that their shrine is intact. This was deemed necessary to counteract false reports circulated by the Arab Executive.
