The Minister of Education in Uruguay paid a warm tribute to the Jewish immigrants, declaring that the government regarded them as a very desirable element, when he spoke at the examinations of those immigrants attending the Spanish language classes arranged by the Jewish Immigrants Aid Society in Montevideo, whose activities, including the Spanish language classes, are almost exclusively financed by the Hias-Ica-Emigdirekt.

The classes are attended by 180 immigrants, men and women, and their knowledge of the Spanish language appeared to give the utmost satisfaction to the Minister of Education. The Inspector of elementary schools, the Director of the school in which the classes are held, and the members of the Board of the Jewish Immigrants Aid Society were also present.

Congratulating the Society on its efficient work, the Minister said that the Ministry of Education was glad to assist the Jewish Community in its educational work. Addressing the students, he expressed the hope that they would become valuable co-workers in every field of life, to the benefit of the Republic of Uruguay.
