Workers in the ladies’ garment trade in Cleveland and vicinity went on strike this morning in response to a call by the Cleveland Joint Board of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. The union demands the unionization of the entire trade in Cleveland and its vicinity, a 44-hour, 5-day week, as existing in other cities. The present schedule is 44 hours and five and a half days. The union also demands the elimination of the sweat-shops.
