Jewish women praying at the Wailing Wall yesterday for the recovery of a sick child were told they would be chased away unless they lowered their voices. They were first ordered to be quiet by Arabs and later by a British policeman. Prior to this incident there has never been any interference of such a nature with the ancient practice of praying at the Wall.
It appears that this action is the first attempt to enforce the demands on Chief Rabbi Kook made two months ago by the Society for the Protection of the Mosque of Omar that Jews pray quietly at the Wall.
