the population, which forms the basis of Jewish aspirations in Palestine. The Jews do not desire the subordination of the Arab population, but they resent the policy of elimination which has recently been practiced by others towards the Jews.”
The memorandum cites the resolution adopted in 1921 by the Zionist congress, and which was mentioned in the White Paper issued by Winston Churchill regarding the relations between Jews and Arabs.
“We are firmly convinced of the necessity and possibility of the coordination and harmonization of the interests of Jews and Arabs,” says the memorandum.
“We welcome with satisfaction the Council’s decision to settle the Wailing Wall question, which has been attacked by the delegates from the Syro-Palestine Committee,” the memorandum concludes. “On behalf of the high principle of peace and justice we protest against the menacing attitude which Arslan has adopted in opposing the Council resolution. We protest against the policy of violation and intimidation of which they seemingly avail themselves, together with the abettors and instigators of the Palestinian troubles, who were denounced by Prime Minister MacDonald at the last session of the League of Nations.”
