Six Landsmanshaften have contracted with the American Ort for the erection of factories which will employ destitute Jews in their native towns abroad, it was reported to Dr. Leon Bramson, president of the International Ort this week by Gerson Zybert, manager of the department. The agreements involve expenditures of over $50,000, of which part is supplied by the Ort and part by the individual societies.
The societies which have bound hemselves to supply funds, with which he Ort agrees to develop specific industrial projects are Uman, providing funds for a wood-work factory and a mechanical locksmither; Yelisovetgrad, providing for clocks; Proskurov, providing for a woodwork factory, and Belozerkov, providing for a furniture factory.
