The draft of amendments to the new immigration quota bill, that has aroused such opposition among South African Jews, allowing exemption from the quota of 55 annually from East European countries for the next three years of wives and children of men now in South Africa has been approved by Minister of Interior Malan. At the same time, the provision on the bill assigning a total of 1,000 outside of the quota has been reduced to 500.
