Leon Rabbinowitz, 77, former editor of the Hebrew daily “Hameilitz,” who was arrested some time ago with other leaders of the Leningrad Jewish community, is accused of espionage and conducting anti-Soviet gossip abroad. The accusation is very serious and its basis is the fact that he sent newsletters to the New York Yiddish daily, “The Day.”
