First Yiddish Culture Congress Opens in New York Tomorrow

The first congress of Yiddish Culture Societies in the United States will open Friday evening in Irving Plaza Hall. The congress has been called by the Yiddish Culture Association of the United States and Canada. Delegates representing many branches of the organization in a number of cities are expected at the conference.

The principle speakers at the opening session will be Dr. Chaim Zhitlovsky and Zalman Raisin, editor of the Vilna Yiddish daily, “Tog,” and compiler of the Lexicon of Yiddish Literature, who has come here as the representative of the European Yiddish culture institutions. Dr. Zhitlovsky will preside at the first session. Other speakers will be S. Niger, Jacob Levin, J. Steinbaum, Dr. Shatzky, Joseph Schlossberg, I. Nox, L. Lehrer and H. Novack.
