While the Arab delegation in London is using all the influence at its command to get a commutation of the death sentences imposed on Palestine Arabs as a result of last Summer’s riots, the Arab Executive here is leaving no stone unturned to accomplish the same object, despite the fact that the Privy Council has already turned down an appeal from the death sentences.
Following a meeting of the Arab Executive yesterday, at which the Privy Council’s action in the death sentences was discussed, a memorandum was sent to High Commissioner Chancellor, urging commutation of the death sentences to imprisonment. The memorandum protested against the Privy Council’s decision and expressed fear that trouble might arise as a result of it. The Arab Executive also has sent a delegation to Emir Abdullah of Transjordania, asking him to solicit a commutation of the death sentences.
