Writer in Bombay Papers Makes Plea for Moslem Understanding of Zionism

A plea to the Moslems to understand the aims of Zionism is contained in a letter signed by “Onlooker,” printed in today’s “Times of India” and the “Bombay Chronicle,” the latter the English organ of the Revolutionary Party. In a two column letter, “Onlooker” analyzes the speeches and resolutions of the recent All-Moslem Palestine Conference held here and shows that the position of the Jews in Palestine and of the Moslems in India is analogous because both are minorities.

“Onlooker” then goes on to point out that Great Britain rewarded the Moslem Arabs for their wartime assistance by establishing Arab sovereignty over the whole Arabian peninsula except Palestine. He says, “to help the Jews reestablish themselves helps humanity to solve one of its knottiest problems; to retard them, as some Moslems would, denies, on fictitious grounds, the Jews’ rights to a country where their historic title has been proved and recognized, thus depriving them of a cherished opportunity that Moslems and all nationalities ask for themselves.”

At the All-Moslem Palestine conference held here resolutions were adopted calling for the repeal of the Balfour Declaration, the termination of the Palestine Mandate and a free and independent government in Palestine composed entirely of “original Palestine inhabitants.”
