Echoes of the latest anti-Semitic disturbances in various parts of Roumania were heard in Parliament when M. Rosenberg introduced an interpellation on behalf of the national minorities group and M. Redcianu did the same for the Social Democrats. In the Senate, Chief Rabbi Niemirover protested against the insult last week to the Jewish religion by the anti-Semitic leader, Professor Alexander Cuza.
The Union of Roumanian Jews has submitted a memorandum to Premier Maniu demanding satisfaction for the insult to Judaism and also demanding the release of the Targufromos Jews who were arrested after a clash in which they resisted the attacks of the Cuzists last week. These demands will also be submitted to the Regency by the Jews at an interview this week.
A three-day congress of Roumanian students is now in session at Czernowitz. Thus far the authorities have succeeded in maintaining order by adopting the most energetic measures to prevent excesses.
