Governor Roosevelt, Secretary of the Interior Wilbur and Mayor Walker will join, tonight, in a tribute to Felix M. Warburg, chairman of the Joint Distribution Committee and chairman of the administrative committee of the Jewish Agency for Palestine. For the purposes of this tribute, the idea of the “town meeting” which played an important part in the early history of the United States has been revived.
A feature of the meeting will be the presentation to Mr. Warburg, by James N. Rosenberg, chairman of the New York Allied Jewish Campaign, of a volume in vellum and parchment containing original letters from President Hoover, former President Coolidge and other distinguished American as well as European statesmen expressing their appreciation and admiration for the many beneficent deeds of Mr. Warburg in the fields of philanthropic and civic responsibility. The second part of the volume will contain the autographed signatures of many who have worked side by side with him in many Jewish and non-sectarian altruistic movements, and who, to signify their cooperation with him in his efforts to ameliorate the condition of his coreligionists in whatever part of the world they are in need, have made contribution of $1,000 and over to the New York Allied Jewish Campaign, in advance of the formal opening of the “drive.”
