The prospect in Syria, where the leaders of all political parties agreed at an all-party conference, to decide at the earliest moment what attitude to take towards the French offer of a constitution is being watched with particular interest. The French offered a constitution with reservations concerning France’s international obligations as the mandatory power.
Simultaneously in Transjordania the opposition, a self-styled national congress, has just adopted a resolution urging non-recognition of the legislative assembly and of the acts it passed, thereby demanding a newly constituted constitutional government.
