Rabbi Zevi Perelmutter, the oldest rabbi in Poland who died yesterday at the age of 90, has received post-mortem the highest Polish honor, “Polonia Restituta” according to a presidential decree published today in the “Monitor Polski”, the official government organ. Letters of condolence have been received from various members of the cabinet and other leading government officials by his four daughters and five sons.

The venerable rabbi was buried today with a public funeral at the expense of the Jewish community. Many government representatives followed the body to the grave while Premier Sawek sent his condolences. The Rabbinate has declared a special period of mourning.
