A rumor that the Jewish section at the Utley Library is to be given up and the Jewish Reading Room closed, was denied yesterday by M. Olveling, superintendent of branch libraries of the Public Library of Detroit.
The only change, declared Mr. Olveling, to be made is that the Jewish Reading Room will also be used to house books in English and other languages, due to the decreased use of the room by Jews and the decrease in demand of Jewish books. For the same reason the Jewish librarian employed on a part-time basis has been discharged because the small use of the room and Jewish books does not warrant continuing this position.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
