A demand for energetic measures on the part of the Roumanian government in connection with the recent antiESemitic rioting in Bielce, Bessarabia, was voiced by the Jewish deputy, M. Landau, in the Roumanian parliament. He called on the government to take steps against those guilty of the trouble in Bielce in which several Jews were seriously injured.
He also inquired about government support for the Jewish schools and for a new Jewish teachers’ seminary. Minister of Education Costacescu, replying to Deputy Landau, recognized the justice of his educational demands but said that satisfaction of them depended on the possibilities of the budget.
