Throngs crowded Temple Bethel at Dorchester and Temple Ahabath Jesahurn in Roxbury to hear Rabbi Joseph Schneursohn, eminent scholar, better known as the Lubawitscher Rebbe, who was exiled by the Soviet government for his religious teaching. He exhorted the Jews of America to adhere to the faith of their fathers and urged the Jewish people to remain true to their traditions of fear and love of the Lord, the consecration of the Sabbath, family purity and the national redemption of Israel.
Indicating that the American Jews are fortunate in the enjoyment of religious liberty, something, he said, which is virtually stifled in Soviet Russia, the venerable Rabbi blessed America for its spirit of religious tolerance and appealed to American Jews to help their brethren in Poland and Russia.
