The Hungarian government today stepped in and interfered with the autonomy of a Jewish community following quarrels between two Jewish factions in the community of Papa. The intervention of the government resulted in the annulment of the rabbinical elections because the community officials disregarded the order of the ministry of religion to arbitrate the dispute between the conservatives and liberals within the community before the elections were held.
