Jewish Philanthropist Gives Negro Institution $50,000

Max Epstein, noted Jewish capitalist and philanthropist of this city, has through the University of Chicago made a contribution of $50,000 to the Provident Hospital and Training School, a negro institution, for the purpose of establishing an out-patient department of the hospital. This is the third gift of the kind that Mr. Epstein has made.

Mr. Epstein, who is the president of the General American Tank Car Corporation, was chairman of the Draft Board during the World War. He is the donor of the Max Epstein Dispensary and Social Hall of the University of Chicago and established the Max Epstein Loan Fund at Harvard Law School.
