Moscow (Jul. 21)
Permission for the Federation of Jewish Relief Organizations of Great Britain to enter Soviet Russia and assist the needy Jews there has been granted following several weeks of negotiations between representatives of the Federation and Sh. Yochelman of the Comzet, the government department for settling the Jews on the land. An agreement between the Comzet and the Federation was signed following Yochelman’s return from Ukrainia with definite plans. The agreement will be approved by the higher Soviet authorities within a week.
Some months ago when the Federation sought permission to contribute money for the needy Jews of Ukrainia it was denied because the president of the Federation is Chief Rabbi Joseph Hertz who had taken an active part in the campaign against Russia’s war on religion.
