The municipality budget of $475,000 for Tel Aviv, the largest of any in Palestine, was today approved by Steuart Spencer Davis, treasurer of Palestine. The government’s grant towards the budget will be $32,000, the smallest to any municipality in the country.
The approval of the budget will enable Tel Aviv to contribute $12,500 to the Hadassah Hospital, making it possible for the latter to reopen its surgical department which had been closed when this contribution had been help up. The government’s approval of the budget also enables Tel Aviv to continue with the construction of its own abbatoir for which it had obtained a loan of $50,000 from the Ottoman Bank, guaranteed by the government.
The proposed wage scale for municipal employees was also ratified by Mr. Davis.
