Jewish actors in Poland are now living in such dire circumstances that many of them are earning only 6 zlotys (60 cents) a week, it was stated here yesterday at the opening of the twelfth All-Polish Actor’s Convention. Forty delegates representing 250 members are attending the convention.
Yiddish theatres in Poland, it was declared, are suffering today from the general economic crisis which has affected the Jews more severely than the rest of the Polish population. This in turn has had its effect upon the individual Jewish actor who nowadays finds it almost impossible to make a living from his profession, according to the report rendered at the convention by the Jewish delegate.
