The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, who heads the extremist wing of the Moslem Arabs and who is known to be opposed to the legislative council proposed by the British government in its statement of policy because it does not fulfill the Arab demand for a parliament with full legislative powers, is reported to be wavering and may yet out-maneuver the moderates led by Mayor Nashashibi of Jerusalem.
The Jewish Telegraphic Agency has made a canvass of Arab and Christian opinion with regard to the proposed legislative council. Leading Christian members of the Arab Executive deplore the decision of the Jews to boycott the legislative council. They claim that the position of the Aran fellaheen is the gravest problem facing Palestine and that the Council offered a common platform for righting the economic and social ills of the country.
