The court at Sighet today declared that the anti-Semitic priests, Fathers Dimitrescu and Berinde had suddenly gone insane. The court said they would be transferred to an asylum, according to newspaper reports. The priests were among the 85 persons awaiting trial for participating in the anti-Semitic disorders in Marmoresh and Borscha.

The Curierul Israelite termed the court’s decision a maneuver to postpone the trial and asks why the priests were not found insane before. The paper adds that the action of the court probably means that the 18 Jews of Marmoresh also under arrest will be held responsible for the disturbances.
