Canadian Jewry added its protest to the world-wide indignation of Jewry at the announced British plan of policy for Palestine in a statement issued by the national council of the Canadian Zionist Organization. The council held an emergency meeting last night. It was presided over by A. J. Freiman and attended by delegates from various sections of Canada. The Jewish members of Parliament, S. W. Jacobs and A. A. Heaps participated in the meeting.
The resolution adopted by the council urged the British Parliament to reconsider its policy in Palestine so as to make it possible for Jewish people to continue to cooperate with Britain “in the proper fulfillment of the Mandate, which while completely safe-guarding Arab rights will insure the establishment of a Jewish National Home in Palestine.”
The council decided to submit a special manifesto to Canadian Jewry appealing to it to remain steadfast and to pursue its efforts in Palestine.
The Jewish Labor organization is arranging a protest meeting for Sunday, November 2, at the Monument National Theatre.
