The High School of Jewish Studies, conducted by the Board of Jewish Education, was opened this week at the Jewish People’s Institute with a special program. This high school, under the principalship of Rabbi Samuel M. Blumenfeld, aims to meet the needs of hundreds of high school students who, because of a lack of adequate facilities, have been deprived of a proper Jewish education. Rabbi Blumenfeld said:
“Many Jewish boys and girls of high school age have come to realize that no education can be complete without an intelligent understanding and appreciation of one’s history, literature and civilization. More and more do we find young men and women who feel a need for Jewish acknowledge. It is in answer to this need that the High School of Jewish Studies was organized.”
