Rabbi Charles Rubenstein, formerly of Winnipeg, Canada, was formally welcomed at a dinner here last night as spiritual leader of Congregation Beth Israel. Rabbi Rubenstein, who is the youngest Orthodox rabbi ever to assume a New Orleans pulpit, came here a month ago at the call of Beth Israel Congregation, which is said to be the largest Orthodox synagogue in the South.
