An increase of 60 per cent in the acreage sown this year in the Jewish agricultural settlements of Crimea as compared with last year is reported today by the Comzet, the government department for settling the Jews on the land. While last year 60,000 puds were sown over an area of 592 hectares this year 111,000 puds were sown over an area of 867 hectares.
The improvement is particularly noticeable in the settlements sponsored by the Agro-Joint, the American Jewish Joint Agricultural Corporation, which has now also come to the aid of the old colonists, lending them needed machinery.
