Six Jews active in the fields of social service and philanthropy have been included on the executive committee of the Welfare Council Coordinating Committee appointed by former Governor Alfred E. Smith of New York to abate unemployment. Solomon Lowenstein, executive director of the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies was appointed chairman, and other Jewish members are:
Fritz Kaufmann, director of State Employment Service; Dr. Samuel C. Kohs, executive director Brooklyn Federation of Jewish Charities; Mrs. Mary K. Simkhovitch, director Greenwich House; Frances Taussig, executive director, Jewish Social Service Association, and Lillian D. Wald, chairman, executive committee, Henry Street Settlement and Visiting Nurse Service.
